The West Kohala Wildfire Alliance is a collaboration of 6 Firewise communities on the northwest leeward region of the Big Island of Hawai’i: Kailapa/Kawaihae Hawaiian Home Land, Kohala Ranch, Kohala Estates, Kohala by the Sea, Kawaihae Village, Kohala Waterfront.
This project will improve resilience, reduce hazardous fuel loads, provide crucial firefighting access, and improve the safety of emergency escape routes.
