Island Innovation Fund
Honolulu, Hawai'i, March 2011 - The Hawaii Community Foundation announced the first recipients of its new Island Innovation Fund, which was created to serve as a catalyst for innovation within the nonprofit sector. A total of $461,119 was awarded to five recipients for projects. NKCRC received $82,000 for the Food Forum project's initiative which will organize the harvesting, collection and processing of excess food in rural communities to distribute back to its residents.

Plans for Our New Home
The community is talking about our exciting plans for a Welcome Center and Hawi's first public rest rooms. Built in 1937, this building is registered under Hawaii's Historic Places for its rare architecture. The Center will boast Kohala’s rich history and how it connects to our community today.
