Kamehameha Day Celebration
As the birthplace of this great King, the North Kohala community is sure to celebrate on June 11th every year. A new committee successfully organized this treasured tradition. The parade began in Hawi and made its way to the King's Statue in Kapa'au along Akoni Pule Highway. Once past the statue, the parade looped back to Kamehameha Park where floats were parked for display. Cultural exhibits, local food and great entertainment filled the Park’s football field throughout the afternoon. Many thanks to the Ho’opai family for a job well done!
